The Kheda town was handed over to Babi Dynasty in the 18th century and it remained with them until the year 1763 and thereafter it went to Marathas.  The rulers of Babi family transferred to Khambat and now a majority of the family members stay in Ahmedabad.  Sahibzada Ahmed Siddique Hussain who was Kheda family’s last head, got married to Bima Rahim Sultana who hailed from the Junagarh State. Their daughter was Bima Nasreen Sultana who got married to Sahibzada Anis Mohammed who hailed from “Devgam”( which happens to be a famous residence of the Junagarh State).

The Marathas surrendered the Kheda District to the British rulers in the year 1803 and it finally became a part of Bombay Presidency of the British India. Kheda used to be a huge military station till the year 1830 after which the cantonment was shifted to Deesa. In the District of Kheda there were a myriad of villages that were established by the Jats, Gujjars and some other groups as well.

It was in Kheda where Mahatma Gandhi started the Satyagraha Andolan in the year 1919 against the harsh taxation by British rulers during a period of scarcity of food.
